Under 8 - Match Report

AFC Walkern U8 V Hatfield Youth U8

(Julie Lancaster 21/09/2019)

Hatfield Youth FC Under 8  Vs  AFC WALKERN WHITES   (Score Withheld)

(Match Date: Saturday 21st September 2019)
PLAYER OF THE MATCH FREEMAN (my strong man)
GOAL SCORER FREEMAN
SQUAD AINGE; FREEMAN; M READ-WHITSEY; A READ-WHITSEY; BROWN (captain)
Well a bit of drama before the game, as directions were not that clear so finding the venue meant some of us were late including myself. Well that sorted we kicked off and applied a lot of pressure but just could not score the opener. Then Walkern had a breakaway and scored. This did not deter our team in fact they carried on continually pressing. Ainge, is finding his own position as he automatically stayed last man to make sure we had cover. Freeman was a different player from last week, getting in vital tackles and moving forward to help create some of the many chances we had. His reward came after a really worked move by most of the team resulting with Freeman slotting home from just inside the area. Then you had M Read-Whitsey in goal, who had very little to do but learnt very quickly from the few errors made and shows signs of maybe a possible goalkeeper of the future. Brown who was captain for the second week in a row played some good football, and this week he used his team mates more and paid dividends. A Read-Whitsey played her best game yet and by getting more involved improved her confidence.
Today the team just showed what potential they have, quite a lot of passes today were superb. Although they all did not come off you could recognise what was meant to happen. Just need a couple of more players to help ease the burden on them.
Each week they have improved in all areas which is pleasing to me and hopefully to their parents.
